Alaska’s Bristol Bay is like no place on earth. The watershed sustains the world’s largest and most productive wild salmon fishery, with over 40 million wild salmon returning every year. It powers the economy with 14,000 annual jobs, sustains Alaska Native communities and supplies a healthy sustainable source of food to the world!
The Army Corps of Engineers has just released its final environmental review of the Pebble Mine, a massive copper and gold mine proposed at the Bristol Bay headwaters. If built, the Pebble Mine will cause irreparable harm, including the: permanent destruction of over 100 miles of rivers and streams under just phase one of the mine.
The proposed mine is strongly opposed by the majority of Alaskans, Bristol Bay Native Tribes, hardworking commercial fishermen, hunters and anglers, jewelry retail companies, restaurants and chefs, conservation groups, churches and more.
This is a crucial time to speak up! Please join in the effort to save our nation’s greatest wild salmon fishery, and all of those who depend on it. Tell the EPA to protect Alaska’s Bristol Bay and VETO the proposed Pebble Mine!
