Call the Army Corps of Engineers & Tell Them to Cancel the Matagorda Ship Channel Dredging Project!
I’m calling to urge you to immediately cancel the Army Corps of Engineers' plans to dredge the Matagorda Ship Channel for an oil export terminal.
This project threatens to release mercury contamination from the Alcoa Superfund site and devastate local efforts to restore Lavaca Bay’s fisheries. 4th-generation shrimper Diane Wilson, who is working to create a sustainable fishing economy in Lavaca Bay, began a hunger strike on April 7th to demand the cancellation of this project.
This project and the proposed oil export terminal would threaten local economies, Gulf communities, and our climate. Please use your authority to protect Lavaca Bay and cancel this dredging project.
