Uranium mine and mill workers, and the communities downwind of the mines, shouldered an unfair burden of pollution and exposure to radiation in order to produce the materials needed to fuel the U.S. nuclear arms program.
In response, Congress passed a law to offer compensation to workers active from 1941 to 1971, and a few downwind communities.
But the risk of radiation didn't stop in 1971. Uranium mines continued to pollute while operating to meet the demand of nuclear power plants.
All downwind communities and uranium mine and mill workers deserve compensation for the health and environmental problems caused by uranium mining.
TAKE ACTION: Tell your Senators and Representative to extend and expand radiation compensation before it ends in July 2022!
